Casey Grammar School

Casey Grammar School

Casey Grammar School, a distinguished co-educational institution, is overseen by a Board and benefits from the guidance of a Consultative Committee. These two entities comprise representatives hailing from Uniting, Salvation Army, and Anglican Churches, alongside parents and individuals possessing specialized expertise. Notably, Casey Grammar School is registered as a limited liability company.

The school’s inception in 1994 was the result of an interim committee’s vision to establish an affordable Christian school dedicated to providing exceptional education for families in Cranbourne. Its initial enrollment consisted of 57 students spanning from Foundation to Year 6. In 1996, the school expanded to incorporate Secondary classes, subsequently accommodating students from Foundation through Year 12. As of today, the school boasts an enrollment of over 800 students.

The school’s emblem serves as a testament to its Christian heritage and foundational values. It incorporates the symbol of the Holy Spirit, represented by small flames, a poignant emblem dating back to the time of Pentecost. Additionally, the emblem features the ‘Chrismon,’ an ancient symbol tracing its roots to Roman times, symbolizing Christ the Risen Lord and further emphasizing the school’s Christian legacy. The school’s motto, “One in the Spirit,” prominently featured on the emblem, underscores the transformative influence of the Holy Spirit in uniting the school community.

Casey Grammar School holds the distinction of being a founding member of Independent Schools Victoria and the Victorian Ecumenical System of Schools, which has since evolved into Ecumenical Schools Australia (ESA).

Ecumenical Schools Australia (ESA) is a network of independent co-educational schools characterized by their diversity in terms of size, geographical location, and faith affiliations. These schools collaboratively strive to enhance the richness of education. Currently, ESA comprises 18 member institutions that collectively catered to over 17,700 students in 2019. These schools are predominantly situated in the outskirts and regional hubs, each boasting its unique characteristics and value systems.

The binding force among ESA members is their shared commitment to acknowledging and celebrating each other’s distinctiveness while actively collaborating to enhance the educational experiences of their students. ESA encourages an open-minded approach to differences in profiles and strategic directions among member schools, fostering a dynamic and cooperative educational community.

Remarkably, ESA accommodates a wide spectrum of faith practices, encompassing various Christian denominations and even schools without formal affiliations. However, they all espouse a fundamental Christian ethos. ESA’s overarching objective is to promote equitable access to educational opportunities while simultaneously nurturing excellence in student outcomes within its member schools through various initiatives and activities.
